Lifestyle Modifications
Reduce symptoms, prevent recurrence, and support overall nasal health.
- Regular saline nasal rinses (nasal douche) using a salt and bicarbonate of soda solution to help clear nasal passages and reduce irritation.· Mix 1 level teaspoon of salt and 1 level teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in about 1 pint of cooled boiled water.· Wash hands, then sniff the cooled mixture up one nostril, allowing it to run out, repeating at least 3 times per nostril.
- Avoidance of environmental irritants such as allergens, smoke, and pollutants that can exacerbate nasal inflammation.
- Maintaining good nasal hygiene to prevent infections and reduce inflammation.

Medicinal Treatment
Shrink polyps, alleviate symptoms, and manage underlying inflammatory conditions.
- Topical corticosteroid nasal sprays or drops prescribed to shrink polyps and reduce inflammation within the nasal passages.
- Oral corticosteroid tablets, typically prescribed for a short course (up to 2 weeks), to provide rapid relief from severe symptoms and reduce polyp size.
- Antihistamines or leukotriene modifiers may be prescribed if underlying allergies or asthma contribute to polyp formation.

Surgical Treatment
Remove polyps, restore nasal airflow, improve sinus drainage, and enhance sense of smell and taste.
- Polypectomy, a minimally invasive procedure to remove individual polyps, often performed endoscopically.
- Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (ESS) for more extensive polyps or when polyps are associated with chronic sinusitis, involving the removal of polyps and widening of sinus drainage pathways.
- Post-operative use of steroid nasal sprays is often recommended to prevent the regrowth of polyps, as recurrence is common.
